Claude Motion Beta Explained: Access, Pricing and Export Limits

Who can use Anthropic’s Claude Motion beta, what it costs, what it makes, what Anthropic has not published about MP4 export, and what to use without a Team plan.

Everything below was checked against Anthropic's help article and launch post on 10 October 2026. The feature is in beta and will change, so check the sources before you rely on a detail.

What Claude Motion is

Claude Motion turns your content into a short animation: an explainer, an animated chart or a product walkthrough. Anthropic is explicit that it is built as code that animates text, charts, shapes and images, and that it does not use a video generation model. That has two consequences:

  • Text, numbers and layouts stay exactly as written, and you can change one word, number or timing without the rest of the animation changing.
  • It cannot produce realistic footage or people. For that you still need a video model such as Veo, Kling or Runway.

Anthropic's own examples are a 30-second all-hands explainer built from a quarterly report, motion added to a chart in a board deck, a product walkthrough for customer onboarding, and an animation comparing pricing plans for a sales kickoff.

It launched together with Claude Dashboards (live dashboards over company data). At the same time, Anthropic moved Docs, Slides and Design out of beta on every plan, including Free. Motion and Dashboards stayed in beta.

Who can use it

Claude Motion availability by Claude plan, as of 10 October 2026
Claude planClaude Motion
FreeNot available
ProNot available
MaxNot available
TeamBeta, on by default
EnterpriseBeta, off by default until an owner turns it on in Organization settings → Artifacts; owners can limit it to groups with custom roles

If you are on Team or Enterprise and do not see it, ask the organization owner whether Motion is turned on for you.

How to start an animation

  1. In any chat, ask Claude for an animation, or choose Output → Motion. You can also open the Artifacts tab and pick a Motion template.
  2. Describe it. Anthropic suggests saying who the audience is, where it will play and roughly how long it should be. Attach reports, data or images so the animation uses your own content.
  3. Refine it by asking for changes in the chat or by editing it directly in the editor.
  4. Export it as an MP4, or open it in another tool. Anthropic lists Adobe, Descript, HeyGen and Runway among others, with Canva and Captions coming.

Each animation is saved in your Artifacts tab and is private until you share it.

Pricing and usage limits

There is no separate price for Claude Motion. It comes with the Team or Enterprise plan and counts toward that plan's usage limits. Anthropic notes that longer or more complex animations use more of the limit than a typical message. In practice the cost of Claude Motion is the cost of a Team or Enterprise seat; check Anthropic's pricing page for current seat prices.

Without a Team plan

On Free, Pro or Max you cannot open Claude Motion. Two routes give you Claude-written motion graphics anyway:

  • A hosted generator. Opus 5.5 Video runs Claude Opus 5.5 as Claude Code in a cloud sandbox: you type a prompt, it writes the animation as HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and the site renders a 1080p, 30 fps MP4 of 15, 30 or 60 seconds in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, with music, your own audio or voiceover where it is switched on. You pay per video in credits; it is not connected to your Claude plan. Full comparison on the Claude Motion alternative page.
  • Claude Code with Remotion. If you have a paid Claude plan and are comfortable with Node.js, Claude Code can build a Remotion project you own. See online generator vs Claude Code + Remotion.

To try the first route with a Claude Motion style brief, start from the all-hands report explainer:
